A split hose can lead to a check engine light in the best of cases or debris getting into the engine in the worst case (which can lead to oil contamination and eventually internal damage). It is best to inspect these hoses periodically and replace them if they start to harden or develop any sort of surface wear. This genuine, original equipment (OEM) hose connects the left rocker cover to the left factory intake tube, serving as the fresh air intake point for the PCV system.
