Includes: (1) Performance NISMO Radiator Cap Description: This performance/racing radiator cap from Nissan Motorsports (NISMO) is rated at 18.2 lbs, compared to original caps which are rated around 12.6 lbs. for non-turbo applications and 16.8 lbs. for turbo. The higher rating increases the temperature that coolant will boil at, effectively adding extra protection against overheating. It can also help protect against hot spots (localized boiling) in the block or heads in built engines. Having even a little bit of extra protection against boiling coolant is beneficial for all applications. Higher pressure radiator caps (and the higher boiling point that comes with them) are mainly needed in certain conditions where engine temperatures are expected to be higher than normal, such as: Regular driving in hotter areas where outside temperatures frequently reach 90°F and above (ex: most southern U.S. states) Extended driving situations (road trips, endurance racing, etc.) Engine setups with higher than normal compression or boost (high performance & race engines) Allows for different antifreeze/distilled water ratios (track events)* *Antifreeze Ratio Note: 50:50 antifreeze/distilled water is generally ideal in most applications. Higher performance engine builds may use adjusted ratios with more distilled water for additional cooling efficiency. Additionally, some tracks do not allow any antifreeze to be used due to its inherent lubricity (spilled antifreeze on a race track is a serious hazard). While acceptable in these situations, ratios other than the standard 50:50 should not be used in most daily driven cars, and should not be used for extended periods. 100% distilled water should NEVER be used in Winter, especially in areas where temperatures reach below freezing regularly (even with additives). 8/11-20 370Z: Starting with the 2012 model year, 370Z's have two similar looking caps on the cooling system: a pressure cap and a "filler" cap (both of which are referred to as Radiator Caps by Nissan). (Note: Between 08/11 - 05/12 models received either type depending on trim level; please inspect your specific Z prior to ordering.) Previous 370Z's had the pressure cap located on the neck in front of the engine cover; however, the pressure cap was moved from this neck to the reservoir tank and a similar looking cap took its place. This Genuine NISMO Radiator Cap is designed to replace the pressure cap only, which is located closer to the front of the car. It is not designed to replace the "filler" cap and should not be used in its place. 2023 Nissan Z®: The note above for 370Z models also applies to the 2023 models; however, the new setup now has 3 identical looking caps instead of 2. This cap can only be used to replace the pressure cap on these models. Notes: This cap is not for Motorsport radiator part numbers 16-6963, 16-6968, or 16-6969. Supercession Note: Nissan has discontinued the previous version of this cap. The only difference between this new version and the old version is the emblem, which had a solid 'o' in 'nismo'. The warning symbol below the logo is now in red instead of black. NISMO Products: Unfortunately, we have seen a rise in imitation parts being sold as Genuine NISMO items. One way to spot an imitation radiator cap is to look at the two tabs on the ends of the cap. If these ends are not completely smooth (no letters or numbers stamped into them), then the cap you are looking at is not an original NISMO product. Imitation caps will often times have colored seals, where the genuine NISMO caps have grey seals. Genuine caps also feature a shielded spring and a mirror polished finish.
