Includes: (1) 'nismo' Logo Magnetic Oil Pan Drain Plug (3) Plug Washer (3) Sealing O-Ring Description: Magnetic oil drain plugs help to capture and hold metal particles as they drain to the oil pan. This helps keep them from being drawn into the oil pump and re-circulating, which can result in engine damage. In addition, you'll be able to detect the deterioration of engine parts in advance by noting any buildup of particles on the magnet. This Genuine 'nismo' drain plug fits several models of VG and VQ engines and includes three sealing washer sets*. Type Note: This magnetic drain plug features the same "Type 2" logo (as we refer to it) as the previous "Type 1" version of the drain plug, which has been discontinued by Nissan (this logo has been used on most NISMO products sold since about 2009). The main differences between the 2 drain plug types is the color and the sealing washer that are used. The previous version came in a medium dark grey, while this new version is all black (which allows the logo to stand out much better). The sealing washer was changed from a single thin all metal washer to a 2-piece design; see more details in the Sealing Washer Note* below. Features: Heat-resistant neodymium magnet maintains stable magnetic force even in high temperature environments (such as inside an engine). Constructed from 6061 Aluminum for strength and light weight. Finished in high-grade black alumite for improved aesthetics and corrosion resistance. Prominent 'nismo' logo further enhances aesthetics. Insert structure prevents magnets from interfering with the internal engine components. 3 Sealing washer sets included. Installation Notes: While the Type 1 drain plug had a very low torque spec for installation, this plug uses the same tightening spec as the original plug. These must be used together when installing the plug into the oil pan. We are waiting for Nissan to confirm whether replacement o-rings are available, as well as whether the metal washers are reusable or not, and will update this page when confirmed. Additionally, Nissan previously confirmed that the Type 1 plug was compatible with the standard copper crush washer could be used in place of the Type 1's reusable sealing washer; however, that has not yet been confirmed with the Type 2 plug.
